Entertainment Companies Agree: No Suits for Skipping Ads
Twenty-eight entertainment companies have agreed not to sue
owners of the ReplayTV DVR for using the commercial ad
skipping feature. EFF brought a suit on behalf of five
ReplayTV owners seeking a declaratory ruling that using the
devices to skip commercials or send shows between devices is
fair use. A federal court dismissed the suit after the
companies promised not to sue.

National Press Club Protests Web Site Clampdown
The National Press Club, a journalist's organization, is
protesting the US military's decision to restrict what
information is available on a Defense Department Web site.
Last month, the Pentagon said that "information of
questionable value to the general public" will no longer be
posted on the Office of Inspector General's Web site.
